Photography is a fine balance of skill and creativity, a craft which we can help you master and guide you to becoming a photographer that is not only sought after, but able to see and create what others in this space may miss.

If you want to learn more about studio lighting for portraits, but it all seems too daunting or technical, then this hands-on workshop is for you. On the day, you'll learn to setup & operate studio lights, select specific lighting modifiers, and manipulate lighting to make your work stand out from the rest.
This workshop is held at Suburbia Photography Studio in Papamoa which is equiped with a range of quality studio lighting, grip and light shaping equipment.

The intention of this workshop is to help you understand the essentials of studio lighting, and learn how to achieve the look you want. Leaving this workshop, you should feel comfortable stepping into a studio, knowing you have a strong foundation of these basic, but fundamental skills, giving you the confidence and understanding to experiment further.
Learn how to:
— Shape and control light with modifiers & reflectors.
— Reverse-engineer photographs to decipher the lighting used.
— Create simple and effective 1 light setups.
— Understand qualities of light.
— Use a light meter.
— Control white balance.
